MINEX Southern Europe concluded on 2 July the MINEX Europe 2020 series of online mining events. The series started with MINEX Central & Eastern Europe on 3 June and continued with MINEX Western & Northern Europe on 1 July

Event Summary  

The Forum started with a Keynote session Metals Market Outlook. Impact on European Mining in Post COVID-19 World featuring presentations from INTL FCStone, Metals Daily, RK Equity and Metals Focus. The session was followed by a panel discussion Metals Market Outlook. Winners vs Losers. Questions such as “Which metal markets could be positioned best – and worst – for success during the pandemic and its immediate aftermath?” and “Where the investors are looking to invest and de-invest?”, “What is the outlook of critical raw materials and metals markets in Europe?”  were raised and discussed by the panelists 

The Keynote session was followed by a networking break hosted by STEINERT, and then Mining Hotspots Session focused on Spain, Portugal and Turkey.  During the session presenters from the European Federation of Geologists, Cluster Portugal Mineral Resources, Geological Survey of Spain, Öksüt Madencilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Tüprag Metal Madencilik San. ve Tic. A.Ş. provided the latest updates on regional exploration, mining, and business potential. 

The following session ESG in European Mining – the world is watching provided corporate, investor and government perspectives and case studies.  The session then continued with the panel discussion under the headline “Is the European Mining Sustainable Under Current ESG Pressures? where experts from Responsible Mining Foundation, Strategia Worldwide, New Markets Media & Intelligence, SRK Consulting (UK) shared their options on the topic.  

Technical Session titled Building Safer and more efficient mining concluded the day showcasing projects and technologies from Kamni Chain, European Federation of Geologists, STEINERT, Howden, Ausvac Mining and Artel. Pro 

The Forum concluded with online networking event offering participants, viewers, presenters, and exhibitors meeting and exchange platform
